Himachal Pradesh has witnessed a remarkable surge in tourism, attracting over one crore visitors in the first six months of 2024. According to recent official data, the state recorded 1,00,87,440 tourists by the end of June, drawn by its scenic valleys, pleasant climate, and state government-provided amenities.

Popular destinations such as Shimla, Manali, Dharamshala, Dalhousie, Kinnaur, and Lahaul and Spiti continued to attract visitors. Notably, Kullu and Shimla districts emerged as top attractions, drawing 4,73,737 and 4,48,392 tourists respectively.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu noted that the trend has continued into July, supported by favorable weather conditions and open roads. This has allowed tourists to escape the summer heat of the plains and enjoy the beauty of Himachal Pradesh. He emphasized that despite some recent weather-related road issues, most roads across the state remain open and accessible to both tourists and the general public. He expressed optimism about surpassing two crore visitors by the end of the year.

The Chief Minister stressed the importance of tourists staying informed by checking the latest travel advisories and road conditions through the helplines of the district administration, police department, and social media. He reassured that the state government is committed to ensuring safe and enjoyable travel experiences for all visitors. The Public Works Department (PWD) is working diligently to clear any road blockades and restore travel routes swiftly.

The Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation is also encouraging tourists to stay updated on specific routes and travel with confidence. Regular updates on road conditions are being provided by the district administration and Himachal Police to ensure that tourists do not face any inconvenience during their stay.
