London takes pole position for musical tourists

New research released today by lastminute.com confirms that London takes pole position for musical tourists from across the world.

A third of French (34%), two-fifths of Spanish (40%) and 45% of Italian people named it the top destination they’ve travelled to while indulging their passion for music.

A quarter (24%) of the 8,000 surveyed see London as the City of Music – beating jazz capital New Orleans (17%) and dance music destination, Ibiza (10%) to land the title.

Brits would rather stay in the UK than go overseas when it comes to exploring new musical hotspots.

UK landmarks make up the top music pilgrimages Brits most want to take:

1. Glastonbury in Somerset (38%)
2. Abbey Road in London (37%)
= The Cavern Club in Liverpool (37%)
3. Graceland in Tennessee (36%)
4. Nashville in Tennessee (34%)

The top music events that tempt Brits to travel are gigs and concerts (48%), festivals (47%) and to experience local music (30%).
