The Lone Travellers website offering quick travel information for solo travellers has launched.

Margaux Marshall

From finding visa and safety information to getting a restaurant recommendation, the website is for female solo travellers in particular, authored by travel amateurs and bloggers.

“In the sea of blogs, Facebook groups, publications and Google – the available information for travellers is vast and time consuming to access. The Lone Travellers offers access to the important information in just three clicks” said founder Margaux Marshall.

On a country level, the website offers information in visas, culture and currencies, and on a city level you can find out how the transport works, when to go and the level of safety, from the mouths of fellow travellers.

Currently The Lone Travellers has content covering South East Asia, North America, and a few other cities, with content expected to grow over the coming months and years.

It has a user experience designed with mobile use in mind, which takes away the  waiting for replies in Facebook groups, sifting through blogs or having to go through endless comments.

The community-edited quality of the website – which Margaux explains taps into the “the information-sharing culture of the backpacker community” – means that any user with a profile can log in and enter information on a page. The platform already includes entries from travellers and experienced travel bloggers.

Marshall started the website because she couldn’t easily and quickly find information about things to do in obscure travel destinations.
