Zoom Air will operate a Bombardier CRJ200

India’s skies will welcome a new airline next week, when Delhi-based Zoom Air launches its inaugural flight.

IANS reports that the carrier received its Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) on 3 February 2017 and is planning to start flying from Delhi to Kolkata and Durgapur on 12 February.

“We are starting operation from February 12 with the triangle services – Delhi-Kolkata, Kolkata-Durgapur and Durgapur-Delhi. There will be daily flights on these routes,” Zoom Air’s executive director & CEO, Koustav Mohan Dhar, told IANS.

The airline is also planning to launch flights to the state of Arunachal Pradesh, becoming the first carrier to fly to the newly-developed Pasighat Airport. These services still require additional approvals however, and Dhar said that flights are not expected not “before [the] end of March”.

Zoom Air will initially operate one 50-seat Bombardier CRJ200 regional jet.
