The Raffles Hotel Singapore

The Raffles Singapore celebrates its 130th anniversary this year, and the hotel is inviting guests to learn more about its history with a series of walking tours.

Scheduled for the first Saturday of every month from February to August 2017, the tours will be conducted three times a day. They will highlight the main historic elements of the hotel, including famous guests and locations where movies were shot.

Since opening in 1887, the colonial property has welcomed guests including Somerset Maugham, Rudyard Kipling, Michael Jackson and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. It also invented the Singapore Sling cocktail. The Singapore government declared the Raffles a National Monument in 1987.

The hotel recently announced plans to undertaken a major renovation, closing in late 2017 for at least three months before a grand reopening in the second quarter of 2018.

Special packages are being arranged for the 130th anniversary.
