The second Austrian Airlines Dreamliner of the type Boeing 787-9 with the registration OE-LPM  landed in Vienna yesterday afternoon, Thursday 20 June, at 06:00 p.m. and was welcomed at Vienna  Airport with a water salute. After receiving the Austrian Airlines livery in Teruel, Spain, the aircraft is  now ready to enter service in the red-white-red colours. Just a few days ago, on 15 June, the first  Boeing 787-9 with the registration OE-LPL its long-haul service with Austrian Airlines and took off  on its maiden flight to New York.

Over the next few days, the OE-LPM will be flying on the Austrian Airlines short-haul network,  primarily to destinations such as Dusseldorf, Frankfurt and Berlin. On 28 June, the new Dreamliner  will make its debut on long-haul routes with its first intercontinental flight to Chicago.

The entry into service of the new Boeing 787-9 aircraft type is a significant milestone for Austrian  Airlines. It marks the start of the Austrian carrier’s modernization and expansion of its long-haul fleet.  In addition to the first two Boeing 787-9s, nine more will gradually replace the existing long-haul jets  of the Boeing 777 and 767 families by 2028. The integration of a total of eleven Boeing 787-9 aircraft  over the next four years is an important signal for Austria as a business location and for the Vienna  hub.

New “Servus in the air”

With the new Dreamliner, Austria’s home carrier is getting one of the most innovative long-haul  models on the market. The comfort on board is also impressive and combines Austrian hospitality  with a new, innovative travelling experience. On long-haul flights with the Boeing 787, passengers  also enjoy in-flight Internet access.

Of course, there is no shortage of indulgence and culinary delights. On board the Dreamliner,  passengers can look forward to the “Tastefully Austrian” long-haul menu concept. The Do & Co

Flying Chefs and the “Viennese coffee house service on board”, for example, provide culinary  delights in Business Class, while there is also a choice of different menus in Premium Economy or  Economy travel class.
