Singapore Airlines will introduce its newest aircraft, the Airbus A350, to India on 1 July.

The aircraft will be deployed on the airline’s daily Singapore-Mumbai services, taking over the SQ422 service which departs Changi Airport every morning at 0740.

The new twin-aisle jet will offer a total of 253 seats in three cabins, including 42 flat-bed seats in business class, 24 seats in premium economy and 187 in economy. The twin-aisle aircraft also features larger windows, interior lighting designed to reduce jetlag, plus SIA’s latest in-flight entertainment system.

“Singapore Airlines continually looks for opportunities to enhance the travel experience of our Indian patrons. The launch of A350 services to India is a testament to our commitment towards operating a modern and young fleet across the world,” said SIA’s general manager for India, David Lim.

Mumbai becomes the 16th destination to welcome SIA’s A350. The carrier took delivery of its first A350-900 in March 2016 and now has 15 of the aircraft, with another 52 on firm order. These include seven “ultra-long-range” versions which will be used to launch non-stop flights to New York and Los Angeles.
