Singapore Airlines (SIA) has unveiled its revamped Premium Economy Class in-flight experience, which will be available on flights from 31 March 2024. The comprehensive revamp, the first since the cabin class was introduced in 2015, includes an improved and expanded selection of food and beverage options and a new amenity kit.
Premium Economy Class customers will now be offered a glass of Charles de Cazanove Brut Tradition NV champagne shortly after take-off. A hard copy menu card will list the wide variety of meal, snack, and beverage options available on their flight. Meals will be served in elegant custom-made porcelain Premium Economy Class serviceware. An all-new Out of the Woods amenity kit, designed exclusively for Premium Economy Class customers, will also be available on flights at least seven hours long.
Mr Yeoh Phee Teik, Senior Vice President of Customer Experience at Singapore Airlines, said: “Since its introduction in 2015, Premium Economy Class has become popular with our customers. They appreciate the added amenities, heightened comfort, and extra personal space it offers, all at an excellent value.”
SIA has developed over 200 new appetisers, main courses, and desserts to expand the Premium Economy Class in-flight meals. Meals will consist of a seasonal appetiser, main course, bread, dessert, and cheese and crackers, all served on a full-sized tray. Upgraded bread options include croissants for breakfast or garlic bread rolls for lunch, dinner, and supper.
On every flight, customers may choose from two premium main course options, either international or Asian cuisine. Highlights include new dishes such as beef bourguignon served with bacon, mushrooms, vegetables, and potato gratin, Bak Chor Mee (minced pork noodles), and Thai-style Crab Curry served with a combination of jasmine rice and brown rice and seasonal vegetables with egg.
Customers may also choose from an expanded Book the Cook menu, which features up to 20 dishes available on rotation for pre-order at least 24 hours before departure. This includes popular choices such as Singapore Style Seafood Hor Fun and Chicken Biryani, as well as new additions like Slow Braised Lamb Ragout, Sake Teriyaki (salmon in teriyaki sauce), and plant-based wellness dishes such as Mushroom Eggplant Meatballs.
Customers can enjoy delectable desserts specially crafted for them. These include Chocolate Mousseline Cake, Mascarpone Cream Cake, and Apple Crumble Cheesecake. Meals are accompanied by a small bar of chocolate and upgraded cheese and crackers.
The meals will be served in contemporary stoneware glazed porcelain service ware, presented on a linen-lined tray, and neatly tucked silverware, lending an air of elegance to the dining experience.
The revamp reflects Singapore Airlines’ dedication to enhancing the Premium Economy Class experience to a class of its own and is a testament to the airline’s commitment to never standing still and continuously innovating to deliver a personalised and world-class in-flight experience.
Complementing the meals is a selection of wines and Champagne, curated by SIA’s panel of wine experts exclusively for the Premium Economy Class cabin. In addition to the Charles de Cazanove Brut Tradition NV champagne, customers can choose between the 2023 Wairau River Sauvignon Blanc and the 2022 St Hallett Faith Shiraz. An extensive selection of spirits, including whisky, gin, vodka, signature cocktails like the Singapore Sling, and a variety of beers, will also be available.
Non-alcoholic beverage options have also been expanded to include Peppermint and Chamomile teas and hot chocolate from Cadbury. These new additions complement the existing wide range of options, which include soft drinks, fruit juices, coffee, and teas.
Between meals, customers can request new snack options such as almonds and cashews and a wide variety of snacks such as potato chips, assorted buns, sandwiches, muffins, and flavoured popcorn.
To enhance in-flight comfort, SIA has partnered with Out of the Woods, a US-based manufacturer of eco-friendly and sustainable lifestyle products, to introduce a new amenity kit for Premium Economy Class customers. The amenity pouch is made from eco-friendly Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified kraft paper fabric and includes eyeshades and slippers made from recycled PET material. The kit also incorporates a lip balm packaged in biodegradable material. Toiletries, such as dental kits and moisturisers, will remain available in the lavatory.
These enhancements mark a significant step in SIA’s commitment to delivering a distinctive level of service to its Premium Economy Class customers, further solidifying its position as a leader in the global aviation industry.
