On the inaugural flight, the first group of passengers to Fukuoka were welcomed with special souvenir from the airline. The maiden flight VZ810 from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport safely landed at Fukuoka Airport with the warm welcome from Mr. Sorut Sukthaworn, Consul General, Royal Thai Consulate-general in Fukuoka; Mr. Keng Chaivarin, Deputy Director of Tourism Authority of Thailand, Fukuoka Office; Mr. Ryousuke Shoujima, Deputy Governor of Fukuoka Prefecture; Mr. Hiroaki Mitsuyama, Deputy Mayor of Fukuoka City; Mr. Tetsuya Nagasao, Director and President & CEO of Fukuoka Airport (FIAC); and Mr. Luong Truong An, Executive Vice President of Thai Vietjet.

“The new service Bangkok – Fukuoka launch today marks another successful milestone for Thai Vietjet’s network expansion this year, right after travel restriction has been lifted in many countries. We are thrilled to connect Thailand and Japan for the 1st time through direct flights which provide more leisure and business accessibility and opportunities for the citizens & travelers from both countries. After a long period of pandemic disruption, the services connecting Thailand and Japan will play a critical role in assisting the two nations’ trade & economic recovery while also serving the growing travel demand in the region”, said Mr. Woranate Laprabang, Chief Executive Officer of Thai Vietjet.

At the start, the new international service between Bangkok and Fukuoka will operate 3 flights a week every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, with an approximate flight duration of 5 hours 30 minutes and following flight schedule:

In addition, to mark the inaugural flight between Bangkok and Fukuoka, Thai Vietjet has teamed up with AIS 5G, which is the number 1 digital life service provider in Thailand, offering seamless communication services, including access to the most wide-ranging and reliable networks throughout the world. AIS 5G is offering all passengers on the inaugural flight a SIM2Fly 5G Asia-Australia Pack Roaming Sim Card to access this world-renowned network for just 399 baht. The sim offers roaming services in a total of 32 countries and, most importantly, the SIM2Fly 5G card offers 5G services abroad, too. The Asia-Australia pack in particular provides access to 5G services in 15 countries, including Japan, to ensure new customers can experience the fastest and most reliable internet signal there has ever been. Japan’s roaming services give users access to both Softbank and Docomo networks, which are the largest and most wide-ranging operators in that country. The sim also comes with 6GB of data for use over a 10-day period, as well as 500MB of data for use within Thailand.

Benjaporn Kamphet, Head of Special Segment and Prepaid Section at AIS said, “Since COVID-19 measures have been relaxed, the tourist industry has recovered somewhat. To continue providing a superior experience to our customers, AIS has partnered with ThaiVietJet to offer SIM2Fly 5G, Asia-Australia Pack, for free to every passenger on the inaugural flight from Bangkok to Fukuoka. Customers can experience powerful 5G networks from AIS’ SIM2Fly 5G providing uninterrupted services in over 32 countries, an ideal service for tourists, travellers and business people required to travel. We believe that this service will meet the needs of customers and provide convenience, as well as a range of exclusive privileges. AIS is ready to be part of providing the best digital communications experiences to customers in their travels.”

Apart from the new international service between Bangkok and Fukuoka, currently, Vietjet Group operates the flights service from Hanoi (Vietnam) to Fukuoka and Nagoya with the frequency of 3 flights and 4 flights per week, respectively. In addition, Thai Vietjet also provides the connecting flights for passengers travelling from Fukuoka via Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi) to Phuket, Krabi, and Chiang Mai, offering more convenient and flexible choices of travel.

Currently, Thai citizens are required to apply for visa to enter Japan with a negative result of RT-PCR test within 72 hours prior to departure, while fully vaccinated foreign passengers entering Thailand are no longer required for insurance and certificate of COVID-19 test prior to entering the country nor undertake quarantine upon arrival. Passengers are also not required to apply for Thailand Pass prior to departure.

Thai Vietjet is continuously expanding its flight network, both domestic and international while increasing its young and modern fleet. The airline has also recently been awarded the “Most Passenger-Friendly Cabin Crew” in 2021 by the International Finance Magazine, emphasizing its position as the “airline of hospitality”, and reinforcing its core value, “Friendly and Fun” together with “Safety”, “Punctuality” and “Affordable Price”.
