Vietnam is planning to invest more than a quarter of a billion dollars in airport infrastructure projects.
The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reported the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) as saying that it has earmarked VND6 trillion (approx. US$260 million) in the expansion of facilities at six major airports, including Tan Son Nhat (pictured) in Ho Chi Minh City, Noi Ba in Hanoi and the island hub in Phu Quoc.
A total of VND2trn will be spent on the second phase of expansion of the Tan Son Nhat’s international terminal, while a further VND2trn will be used to expand the terminal and airside facilities at Phu Quoc International Airport, raising its capacity to five million passengers per year. In addition, VND1.2trn will be spent upgrading facilities at Noi Ba International Airport.
This year, the ACV expects Vietnam’s airports to handle a total of 91m passengers – 27m international and 64m domestic – on 617,000 flights.
