7 reasons why you should stay in Fujisan Mishima Tokyu Hotel once travel resumes

Fujisan Mishima Tokyu Hotel in Shizuoka prefecture opened its doors on June 30. Opening a luxury hotel amid the pandemic is tough, but the latest property of the Tokyu Hotel Group is bound to be a hit.

With the hotel concept “Be at One with Fuji’s energy”, the hotel will be a perfect destination for all travellers who love to see Mt. Fuji, stay outside of the hustle and bustle of the big cities or explore Japan with the golden route from Tokyo to Kyoto.

Here are some of the reasons why you should stay in Fujisan Mishima Tokyu Hotel once international travel in Japan resumes.

Amazing views of Mt. Fuji

Mt. Fuji is one of the iconic views in Japan and the main draw of the luxury hotel. It capitalises on this wonderful nature’s creation with 70% of the twin rooms with views of Fujisan. The rooms are also designed to match the surrounding and have that seamless effect. For example, the colour scheme of rooms was carefully chosen to match the outdoors. The three primary colours are the grey from Mount Fuji’s lava rock, the pink from Japan’s famous cherry blossom and the green from Mishima’s green leaves. The furniture in the room is also made of cherry blossom wood.

Guests can choose between a traditional Japanese style with Tatami flooring and futon beds or Western style. The suites have large windows, even in the bathroom, where guests can enjoy stunning views and scenery.

Hotel location

Mishima is a perfect location in the middle of Tokyo and Osaka, the main gateways in Japan. Just 45 minutes from Tokyo and two hours from Kyoto, Fujisan Mishima Tokyu Hotel is right beside the JR Mishima Station, so it is hard to miss. Shizuoka is also near other underrated locations in Japan like Izu, Fujinomiya and Numazu, making it a perfect base location for your next travel.

Onsen-like bath

On the top floor of the Fujisan Mishima Tokyu Hotel, the communal bath welcomes all guests for the retreat after a long day. There are traditional Japanese style baths with both male and female facilities, each offers an indoor pool and an outdoor pool, filled with the water from rain and snow that have trickled down Mt. Fuji through its mineral-rich surface over time, and heated to 40 degrees, together with a sauna area and a cold pool to dip into.

All of this with amazing views of Mount Fuji, the outdoor scenery constantly evolves into new picturesque forms depending on the season and the weather. Guests can sit back and relax taking in one of the best views in all of Japan. Those with tattoos can experience this amenity as the staff will provide you with bandages to cover them.

Washoku

The new luxury hotel is located between the mountains and the ocean, which are great resource of fresh produce that is offered in the hotel. This allows us to offer a great selection of traditional Japanese food to the guests. The chefs are trained in Robata style cooking which is kind of Japanese BBQ cuisine with an open kitchen. You have never tried unagi (freshwater eel) until you tried it in Shizuoka – the home of the highest quality unagi. Quench your thirst with the huge collection of local sake, beers and of course Japanese whisky. For those less adventurous, we do of course offer some great western style meals as well.

Variety of activities

Mishima is a hidden gem ready to be discovered. Just one-tenth the size of Tokyo, Mishima is a good size to walk around easily and cycling with beautiful views of Mt. Fuji. Surrounded by mountains such as the one and only Mt. Fuji and oceans, Suruga bay, Mishima has various nature activities including paragliding and cruising.

The famous Japanese garden, Rakujuen, is located in front of the hotel. The previous emperor used to stay in their vacation house and enjoy the breathtaking view of the garden in the summer. Enjoy the cherry blossom from January to May and the view of Mt. Fuji from November to February.

Omotenashi

Experience the highest form of hospitality and what is Japanese people are known for, which is omotenashi or putting customers first. The term is roughly translated as “customer is god”. Omote means public face – an image you wish to present to outsiders. Nashi means nothing. Combining them means every service is from the bottom of the heart – honest, no hiding, no pretending.

Health and safety come first

We are now living in a new world and the Tokyu Hotel Groups understands your anxiety and uncertainty by implementing health and safety protocols for your pleasant stay. These new protocols include regular virus test to staff, use of face masks by all associates, and regularly disinfect the places people touch at public spaces and backyard spaces in the hotels over four times a day.
