Selangor officially launched its digital campaign portal and introduced its official mascot Spark the Firefly on Saturday, 21st December.
The grand launch held as a precursor to Visit Selangor Year (VSY) 2025 took place during the VSY 2025 Festival and Concert on Saturday at Setia City Park.
Officiated by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, the event was part of a three-day celebration.
The campaign aims to position Selangor as a premier tourism destination, showcasing the state’s diverse cultural heritage, scenic landscapes, and vibrant arts scene.
That said, the portal serves as a one-stop platform for tourists, providing essential travel information, itineraries, and updates about upcoming events throughout the year.
Goals to achieve
State executive councillor for local government, tourism, and New Village development Ng Suee Lim highlighted the strategic importance of VSY 2025 in advancing the goals of the First Selangor Plan, which is set to conclude in 2025.
Ng said: “This RM8 million allocation for the VSY 2025 campaign underscores our commitment to boosting Selangor’s tourism sector as a key driver of economic growth. Through this investment, we aim to attract eight million tourists by 2025, generating an estimated RM11.7 billion in tourism receipts and creating new job opportunities throughout the state.”
He further announced that the state government has agreed to reduce entertainment taxes and grant duty-free status to local artists throughout the year.
These measures aim to foster a thriving arts and cultural scene, positioning Selangor as a regional hub for creativity and entertainment.
