Why Positano, Italy needs to be on your travel bucket list

Why Positano, Italy needs to be on your travel bucket list

Few destinations continue to boast local charm and authenticity as Positano. This iconic little refuge on the Amalfi Coast of Italy is a delight for anyone looking to avoid large cities and genuinely experience a destination. Here’s why we’re confident Positano needs to be on your travel bucket list.

There are no direct flights

The simple fact that there are no direct flights to Positano means that the town is not overrun with tourists looking for a quick European break. The closest airports to Positano would be either Naples or Rome; then, if you want to visit Positano, you’ll need to arrive by train, ferry, bus, or private car transfer.

The seafood is spectacular

Positano is well-known throughout Italy for fabulous seafood, and this culture is ingrained from the street food delights to dishes offered at fine-dining establishments. You’ll also be able to wash down your delicious meal with excellent local wines and limoncello from nearby estates.

It’s a hiker’s haven

You can quickly get your exercise quota every day in Positano. Not only does the hilly town have steps just about everywhere, but there are also longer hikes available on the city limits. For example, the Path of the Gods, a four-kilometer hiking trail, runs from neighboring Nocelle to Bomerano. Be sure to plan a private shuttle for your return, as walking each way takes roughly three to five hours, depending on your pace and level of fitness.

The views make everyone feel like a pro photographer

The panoramic views of Positano are simply stunning and will be the dream of any Instagram-savvy photographer. The Amalfi Coast would be enough of a drawcard in its own right; however, the pastel-fronted buildings dotted amongst the mountainous coastline arguably make the biggest impression. For the best views and photographic vantage point, head out to sea to take it all in.

You can spend days on the water

Spending time on the water is essential during a visit to Positano. In addition to catching the best glimpse of the cliff sides and beaches, you can take advantage of the numerous water sporting activities such as stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, or snorkeling. You can also check out a boat rental Positano and charter a vessel with or without a skipper for a day, a week, or even longer.

Learn to make fresh pasta

Take advantage of an extended stay in the city and book one of the numerous pasta-making classes that are available. Make pillowy ravioli, pesto from scratch, and long noodles worthy of slurping every last morsel. We know that you’ll be sad to leave your holiday in Positano behind, but you’ll be able to wow your friends with your newfound talents. Most tours include a large ration of limoncello, which makes it all the more enjoyable.

If we haven’t enticed you to put Positano on your travel bucket list, we don’t know what would. Fabulous food, stunning scenery, and ocean breezes await your arrival to the Amalfi Coast.
