Singapore authorities announced the country’s first-ever nature film festival, Earth in Focus.

Earth in Focus is a vibrant celebration of the beauty and power of nature as seen through film, photography, and artistic expression. 

Open to the public from 2 to 3 November at the Emerald Pavilion on Siloso Beach in Sentosa, the festival will feature Singapore’s first-ever Nature Film Competition and shed light on urgent global issues like climate change, biodiversity and sustainability, all told through the eyes of diverse and passionate storytellers. 

Suitable for all ages, the festival is great for families with young children keen to explore and learn about the wonders of nature in fun, engaging ways.

What can attendees expect at the festival?

The screenings at the event include captivating films that explore humanity’s connection with nature, addressing key topics like ocean and land conservation, water scarcity, and technology-driven solutions for environmental protection. 

Featured films include: SENTOSA, a closer look at the lesser known side of Sentosa Island as well as the various conservation efforts undertaken by Sentosa Development Corporation to protect the island’s natural assets; Revealed: Reefshot which explores how a small fleet of scientists, activists and indigenous people set out to document and preserve the Great Barrier Reef with the help of artificial intelligence; and Marcher sur l’eau which follows the story of 12-year-old Houlaye, who walks several kilometres every day to fetch water in the small, semi-nomadic settlement of Tatis, Niger.

The event also includes photography and ecological art exhibitions featuring an inspiring ecological art installation, along with panel discussions moderated by leading members of the global conservation community.

Those looking for a more interactive approach towards learning more about the environment can attend onsite masterclasses and workshops, as well as fun games for all ages.
