As a responsible member of the Hua Hin community and a truly iconic resort, Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Hua Hin is devoting significant resources to its sustainability programme, embracing inspiring Earth-friendly initiatives throughout 2020 that align with the resort’s continual commitment towards long-term sustainable development.
Most recently, the resort lent its full support this past weekend to Earth Hour 2020, an annual global event organised by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) that raises awareness and takes action on important environmental issues that aim to protect the planet. Centara Grand Hua Hin participated in Earth Hour 2020, one of the world’s largest movements for the environment, marking the event with a variety of activities carried out in support of this year’s featured theme on eliminating single-use plastic and other materials.
Along with energy-saving measures such as switching off non-essential lighting in public areas, and turning off all non-critical electrical appliances that don’t affect the safety of guests, the hotel also offered a week of special activities leading up to the 28 March celebration for guests.
The hotel also added a new shopping feature, EarthCare Corner, to its souvenir boutique, Something to Remember, to promote a more Earth-friendly shopping experience for guests. It is a green products shop-within-a-shop offering a range of retail products, gifts and souvenirs that cause minimal harm to people and to the environment.
The Centara EarthCare Corner is being progressively introduced at eight key Something to Remember locations in Thailand and the Maldives.
