Germany’s inbound tourism is on a steady recovery, with Indian guests playing an increasingly significant role. According to the German National Tourist Board (GNTB), the share of Indian guests in German tourism is showing a positive trend. In December 2023 alone, India recorded 51,666 overnights in Germany, marking a 2.2% growth compared to December 2022. While still slightly below 2019 figures, the overall trend indicates a robust recovery for Indian travelers.
Until December 2023, the total number of overnights from India to Germany reached an impressive 826,703, reflecting a remarkable increase of 32.6% compared to 2022. Romit Theophilus, Director of Marketing & Sales Office – India at the GNTO, highlighted India’s continued position in the recovery rate for travelers to Germany. The positive outlook from overseas source markets, particularly from Asia, offers strong potential for the further recovery of German inbound tourism in the coming months.
Petra Hedorfer, Chairwoman of the GNTB Executive Board, emphasized Germany’s status as a preferred destination and its participation in the Europe-wide trend towards international travel. The focus on sustainability, feel-good experiences, and the relaunch of 52 UNESCO World Heritage sites has significantly contributed to the interest of Indian travelers in destination Germany.
Through strategic marketing initiatives and collaborations, GNTO India remains dedicated to promoting Germany as a top choice for Indian travelers seeking diverse travel experiences, cultural discoveries, and memorable adventures.
