InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has signed a management deal with Pearl Grand Tower Hotel Limited to open InterContinental Colombo in Sri Lanka. 

Set to open in 2019, InterContinental Colombo will feature 307 rooms and 47 suites. The luxury hotel will be spread across 44,600 square metres and is expected to be the tallest hotel tower comprising 42 floors in Colombo 3, an established commercial and business area of the city.

InterContinental Colombo will be located centrally along Galle Road, one of the arterial roads of Colombo, in close proximity to international and domestic airports, and two miles from the city centre.

Colombo is a key gateway city in Sri Lanka having offices of the majority of Sri Lankan corporations, making it the economic and financial hub of the country. It is also well-connected with other parts of the country, making it a popular tourist destination. Popular attractions include the Golden Buddha in Viharamahadevi Park, the Clock Tower in the Fort area, and the Jami Ul-Alfar Mosque.

InterContinental Colombo will cater to the growing demand for business and leisure accommodation in the city. The upcoming hotel will house meeting and banqueting facilities spread over of 1,000 sqm with the largest room in the city having a capacity to accommodate 400 guests and a modern business centre.

All of its rooms and suites will be equipped with modern amenities and views of the Indian Ocean. There will be six dining options including an all-day dining restaurant and three speciality restaurants offering unique culinary experiences to the visitors. Additionally, the hotel will feature a gymnasium, an outdoor pool, and a spa.
