The Indian travel industry was on show at last week’s SATTE 2015 event in New Delhi.

With the Indian government promising a renewed focus on the tourism sector, multiple state tourism boards came together at the Pragati Maidan in New Delhi from 29-31 January for the 22nd edition of the trade show, and arguably one of the most important to date.

“SATTE showcases the true potential of tourism for India and other countries, all under one roof. With [the] government’s provisions in place to promote tourism in India, we are happy to see SATTE 2015’s stance being further reinforced,” said Joji George, managing director of the events organiser, UBM India.

Bihar Tourism participated in the event for the first time, while key players Rajasthan Tourism and Taj Hotels also returned. Other states on show included Jammu & Kashmir, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Goa, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha.

International destinations also took advantage of the event to showcase their products to the Indian travel trade, with the US, UK, Egypt, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Israel, Japan, South Korea, Fiji, Philippines, Spain, Thailand and New Zealand among the countries on display.

In total, approximately 650 exhibitors from 50 countries attended the three-day event. This marks a major increase from 2014’s total of 35 countries.

SATTE 2015 also saw key sessions covering a range of topics, including India’s tourism growth.
