Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has announced it will manage a luxury resort and residences on Grand Cayman, its second property in the Caribbean.

The Cayman Islands is an autonomous British Overseas Territory composed of Little Cayman, Cayman Brac and Grand Cayman located in the western Caribbean. It’s known as a popular tourist destination for its clear water and world-class diving. Among the three islands, Grand Cayman is the largest and most visited, with regular direct flights from 15 US cities, Toronto, London and various Latin American and Caribbean airports.

“We are delighted to announce this exciting new project, which will be the group’s second property in the Caribbean and a fitting extension to our growing global resort portfolio,” said James Riley, group chief executive at Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group.

Set to open in 2021, Mandarin Oriental, Grand Cayman will be an exclusive 100-room beachfront resort with 89 branded residences at Mandarin Oriental. Located 15 minutes from the airport, the resort will be situated on 67 acres at St. James Point, on the southern shore of the island. The hotel will be elevated overlooking its own secluded white-sand beach, offering guests and residents a private luxury retreat.

All of the hotel’s rooms and suites will have views of the sea. There will be five restaurants and bars providing a variety of experiences and dishes. In addition, the development will also have its own farm which will offer ‘farm to table’ dining.

The resort will also feature a range of wellness options including a trademark Spa at Mandarin Oriental, a fitness centre, several outdoor swimming pools and tennis courts. Landscaped walking and cycling trails will surround the 67-acre site and a Beach Club will offer a variety of leisure and water sports activities.

For meetings and events, a range of flexible facilities including outdoor areas that will provide space for destination weddings, as well as social and business events.
