Marriott makes debut in Nepal

The new hotel offers 115 midscale rooms

The world’s largest hotel group has added another country to its network, with the launch of the first Marriott in Nepal.

The new Fairfield by Marriott Kathmandu is located in Thamel, a popular tourist district in the centre of the Nepalese capital. It is also 5km away from Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport.

The midscale hotel offers 115 rooms, a restaurant, bar, meeting rooms and a convenience store where guests can purchase drinks and snacks 24 hours a day.

“We believe this is exactly the right product for this market as it fills a much-needed gap in the moderate tier segment,” said Neeraj Govil, Marriott’s area vice president for South Asia. “We are confident this will resonate well with both leisure and business travellers to Kathmandu.”

Fairfield by Marriott Kathmandu continues the expansion of the midscale brand in South Asia, joining four Fairfield hotels currently operating in India.
