Mauritius targets British families in new promotion

The Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) has launched a new campaign that aims to ramp up the island’s appeal as a family-friendly destination.

The initiative aims to promote the low season by looking beyond the beach to identify attractions and facilities that appeal to families.  A dedicated website has been created for international users to access offers of up to 30% off and information on accommodation and activities suitable for the family sector.

The MTPA conceded that UK families have overlooked the country in the past in favour of closer European destinations. “This is largely owing to a lack of awareness, which is why this campaign comes at a crucial time to help educate consumers and travel agents alike to show them the potential in Mauritius,” it said in a statement.
