The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) of Oman has announced a major investment opportunity to establish a new low-cost airline.

Strategic Expansion of Aviation Sector

The CAA’s announcement highlights the aim to shape the future of air travel in Oman. The new airline will leverage Oman’s strategic location and its modern, award-winning airports to enhance regional and international connectivity.

Infrastructure and Growth Plans

Oman’s recently upgraded airports provide a robust infrastructure base for the new carrier. The low-cost airline is expected to serve domestic routes and connect to broader regional and international networks.

New Airports and Increased Capacity

In addition to launching the new airline, Oman plans to build six new airports, expected to be operational between 2028 and 2029. This expansion will increase the total number of airports in the country to 13, enhancing domestic aviation and boosting tourism.

Future Projections

With these developments, Oman anticipates a significant increase in airport passenger traffic. The number of passengers is projected to rise from the current 17 million to 50 million by 2040.
