Shanghai Disney ends year with 5.6m visitors

Shanghai Disney Resort opened in June 2016

The new Shanghai Disney Resort has exceeded five million visitors in just over six months of operations.

Xinhua reported Fan Xiping, chairman of Shanghai Shendi Group, Disney’s Chinese partner, as saying that by the end of 2016 the attraction had welcomed a total of 5.6m visitors. Shanghai Disney opened in mid-June 2016.

Disney’s head office is said to be happy with the figures.

“Both sides from China and the US are satisfied with the park’s performance,” Fan was quoted saying. “We’ll work together to improve our operational and service standards, to deliver exceptional service to visitors from all over the world.”

Shanghai Disney Resort became mainland China’s first, and the world’s largest, Disney theme park when it opened last summer.
