Thai Airways has denied that its staff are planning to go on strike.

Following recent reports of potential industrial action, THAI’s acting president, Usanee Sangsingkeo, “clarified” in a statement that there “will not be any strike or any event that will affect THAI’s services”.

This follows a meeting with unions on Thursday 9 February, which reportedly settled staff remuneration conditions, including a 6% salary increase and further incentives based on employee performance. The latter of these will be based on the company’s operating performance, which will be announced towards the end of February.

THAI added that while no strike is being planned, it does have has a contingency plan in place in case industrial action should occur.

“All passengers are reassured that THAI’s service will not be compromised and that operations will continue as normal,” Ms Usanee added.
