TUI Cruises Announces New Ship: Mein Schiff Flow

Joe Cusmano

- November 4, 2024

TUI Cruises has revealed the name of its ninth ship, the second new-build mega-ship in the innovative inTUItion class. Following the precedent set by the lead ship, Mein Schiff Relax, the new vessel will not be numbered but will instead have a distinct name – Mein Schiff Flow. Scheduled to enter service in 2026, Mein Schiff Flow aims to encourage travellers to “go with the flow” and enjoy a relaxing atmosphere onboard for a refreshing getaway.

A Unique Vibe and Design

“We are delighted that we can meet the increasing demand for cruises with the Mein Schiff Flow. Our ninth new build is based on the Mein Schiff Relax, which also belongs to the inTUItion class,” explained Wybcke Meier, CEO of TUI Cruises. “The eponymous ‘Flow’ is reflected in the entire design of the ship, as well as in the special atmosphere on board, and makes it easy to let go, relax and slow down.”

Mein Schiff Flow will feature an airy design throughout its public areas, staterooms, and suites. While specific details are still under wraps, the ship’s architecture, colour palette, lighting, and artistry will embody the theme of relaxation and a slower pace.

Innovative Features

As the second ship in the new class, Mein Schiff Flow is expected to share many features with her sister ship, Mein Schiff Relax. These include panoramic windows in the atrium, terraced sun landscapes, ample lounging spaces, and more. A standout feature will be the shadowed roof, designed with an arched, open, wicker-like style to promote airflow, coolness, and dappled sunlight.

“The iconic roof, which seems like a light-flooded grotto, will be visible from afar and offers guests a very special retreat. A unique place that probably doesn’t exist on any other ship,” said Björn Asmussen, architect at 3Deluxe, who helped design the roof for Mein Schiff Relax.

Responsible Growth

With the two 161,000-gross ton inTUItion-class vessels debuting in 2025 and 2026, TUI Cruises is expanding rapidly. These new ships will significantly increase the fleet’s capacity, welcoming up to 3,984 guests each, compared to the current fleet’s approximately 2,500 passengers per vessel.

“This will increase the fleet’s capacity by almost 60 percent,” explains Wybcke Meier. “This constant and sustainable expansion is part of our long-term strategy to serve the growing demand for experience-oriented cruises. The expansion of the fleet not only creates more capacity but also enables us to reach different target groups and open new markets.”

Commitment to Sustainability

TUI Cruises is committed to sustainable expansion and responsible cruising. Both new ships will be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) and have shore power connections to minimise local impacts on port communities. Additional onboard measures will ensure each ship is as environmentally conscious as possible, guaranteeing a long service life that can adapt to changing conditions and new environmental needs.

Looking Ahead

While the maiden voyage of Mein Schiff Flow has yet to be announced, Mein Schiff Relax will welcome her first guests in mid-March 2025 and will be officially christened in Malaga on April 9, 2025. As construction continues at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, anticipation builds for the debut of Mein Schiff Flow and the unique experiences she will offer.

Stay tuned for more updates on Mein Schiff Flow and the exciting adventures that await with TUI Cruises.
