In a grand reveal, in partnership with Royal Caribbean Cruises, TUI Cruises has announced the maiden voyage of its latest marvel, Mein Schiff 7. This German-engineered vessel is set to embark on a test journey from June 16 to June 21, 2024, offering a select group of guests an exclusive preview of the ship’s state-of-the-art facilities.
The “anticipation” voyage promises an enchanting route from Kiel, Germany, to the scenic harbours of Aarhus and Copenhagen, Denmark, and Oslo, Norway. It culminates in a grand return to Kiel Bay, where the ship will be officially named in a christening ceremony scheduled for June 22.
A spokesperson for TUI Cruises expressed the company’s excitement, stating, “Guests of the anticipation voyage have the great privilege of being among the first to travel on Mein Schiff 7.” The crew is poised to deliver an unparalleled “Mein Schiff feel-good experience,” using this voyage as a rehearsal for the grand christening.
While the test voyage offers a glimpse into the luxurious offerings of Mein Schiff 7, it also serves as a critical phase for the crew to refine their services. There is a candid acknowledgment that passengers may experience a partial spectrum of amenities during this preliminary journey.
Currently receiving its finishing touches at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Turku, Finland, Mein Schiff 7 is the first addition to the TUI fleet since the launch of Mein Schiff 2 in 2019. The ship boasts a length of 316 meters and a gross tonnage of 115,000, ready to welcome 2,896 passengers and 1,000 crew members across its 16 decks.
Mein Schiff 7 sets a new standard in eco-friendly cruising, utilizing low-emission marine diesel with a mere 0.1% sulphur content. Its advanced catalytic converters slash nitrogen oxide emissions by about 75%, and the integration of shore power connectivity significantly reduces port emissions.
Captain Omar Caruana, a seasoned mariner, has been at the helm for the ship’s key milestones, including the float out and the lucky coins ceremony, heralding good fortune for the vessel’s future voyages.
Post-christening, Mein Schiff 7 will commence a series of summer sailings through the Baltic Sea, with an inaugural journey on June 23 featuring a 14-day exploration of Norway’s most picturesque ports.
Onboard, guests will be treated to My Ship’s premium inclusive services, a culinary journey through 12 restaurants and cafes, and the relaxation of ten bars and lounges, many offering breathtaking sea views. Wellness enthusiasts can revel in a comprehensive spa, fitness area, and health courses, while children and teens have dedicated clubs and lounges for entertainment.
The ship’s entertainment crown jewel, the Schaubühne Theatre, will host various performances and live concerts. Additionally, the “Infotainment” programming offers educational and exploratory opportunities for passengers.
As Mein Schiff 7 sets sail through September, it will grace the ports of Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia, and Poland, promising adventures that span the breadth of the Baltic and beyond.
In anticipation of future growth, TUI Cruises is already constructing the Mein Schiff Relax and Mein Schiff 9, which are expected to debut in 2025 and 2026, marking a new era of luxury cruising.
