Vistara has taken delivery of its first Airbus A320neo – the new fuel-efficient single-aisle aircraft.

The airline, which is a joint venture between Singapore Airlines and Tata, has ordered seven A320neos from leasing company BOC Aviation, in addition to its existing fleet of 13 standard A320s.

The new aircraft is configured in a three-class layout with 158 seats: eight in business class, 24 in premium economy and 126 in economy.

At present, Vistara only operates domestic flights, but the Delhi-based carrier said that the increased range of the A320neo would help it to “spread its wings internationally in the future”. The new aircraft also offers 15% fuel and CO2 savings compared to the A320.

Vistara becomes the third Indian carrier to operate the A320neo, following low-cost carriers IndiGo and GoAir.
